Shay is a very typical collie. He loves to spend time in our garden running around and chasing the birds that dare to land on his fence. He also loves to spend time in our kitchen where he takes over the couch and snuggles up to any available volunteer’s knee.He likes to be with people, and really enjoys when he is asked to sit and give the paw and is then rewarded with a treat, much to his delight. He seems to be somewhat afraid of other dogs, although he was not always like this. He also seems to have a fear of someone coming up behind him, its like as if he was kicked or slapped from behind at some stage in his life.
Shay is an intelligent dog who needs something to stimulate his brain, some time of agility work perhaps, and he needs plenty of exercise. He is good on the lead and he enjoys his walks.
The home for Shay would ideally be a home with one or more adults only. A dog and cat free home will be required. We think that a rural environment would best suit him, but he will need a secure area from which he cannot get out. He is best walked in an area where he will not be meeting other dogs.
Shay will thrive in the correct home environment with someone who is prepared to give him the affection and exercise that he so very much craves. We are all heart broken to see Shay spending so long in the shelter environment, which is not a good environment for an intelligent dog. He has become somewhat shut down through continuous rejection, and he really now needs that very special home where he will be given a chance to flourish.
Shay is house trained. He is neutered, vaccinated and chipped (972274000301121). If you could be that very special person for Shay please email firstname.lastname@example.org or contact 0871279835.
