Please be vigilant. These cable ties were attached to a fence at a property where there was a litter of German shepherd pups. Cable ties are being found on fences, gates and even wheelie bins. Apparently, one cable tie indicates one dog to be stolen, two ties indicates more than one dog. String, ribbon and chalk marks are also left on walls and gates to indicate that there is a dog on the property that is worth stealing.
People are calling at houses purporting to be from Irish water, Eircom and other organisations in order to get access and to see what dogs might be on the property. Please report to the Garda any suspicious activity in your area to stop these thieves. Heed the warnings and follow the advice: don’t leave your pets unattended in the garden, don’t tie them up outside shops, don’t send them out alone to pee, don’t let your children walk dogs alone, and please microchip and register your dogs.
