VOLUNTEER AT THE KWWSPCA ANIMAL SHELTER – DOGS
We are looking for volunteers to work with our rescue dogs at the KWWSPCA Animal Shelter near Athgarvan in Co. Kildare. We prefer volunteers to be over 21 years old and due to insurance reasons, all volunteers have to be over 18 years old. The work is entirely voluntary, nobody in the KWWSPCA is paid for what they do; the reward comes through the work and the dogs. We require hard working, dependable volunteers who will not let us down, regardless of weather, because our dogs need care every day whether it’s raining, snowing, cold or hot. The work is primarily outdoor work and it involves being cold and wet a lot of the time. It is not just walking and cuddling cute dogs. We have dogs of every size and breed. There’s also poop scooping, feeding, cleaning and this work is not for the faint hearted. You need to be fit and strong, have no physical impairments such as back or shoulder issues, you need to be well used to dogs and have no fear or nervousness around any dogs whether they are big (such a Ralph, pictured below), small (such as Hank, pictured below), or restricted breed (such as Carson).

You must be able to attend on your own, and you should have your own transport as our shelter is not serviced by public transport. We are mainly looking for people who are available to work on a regular day from 7.30 am to 1.00 pm or from 1.00 pm to 6.00 pm (earlier in the winter). You will need to work as part of a team, be prepared to work by the rules, and be happy to work under the supervision of the core volunteer on duty. You must be dependable, we need people who will commit to certain days and times, otherwise we cannot properly function and it is the dogs who end up suffering by being deprived of their walks and basic care. The rewards come in the shape of seeing a dog improving dramatically from the time they come to us, to the time they leave our shelter with their new family. You will feel rewarded in the knowledge that you are part of the team that can make this happen, and that your contribution matters. Do you think you can make this commitment? If so, please complete the volunteer application form that you will find in this link and return it to kwwspca@gmail.com.

The KWWSPCA is looking for volunteers who can give 2 – 3 hours in the morning or in the evening, on a regular basis, to help with the cats and kittens that it has in its care at its Animal Shelter near Athgarvan. The work involves feeding the cats, the cleaning of cages, administering medication and socialisation. Training will be given on site. Volunteers must be over 21 and have their own transport. We try to have at least two volunteers on duty at any one time, but there might be times when you would have to work on your own. VOLUNTEER AT THE KWWSPCA’S CHARITY SHOP, NOAH’S ARK, IN NEWBRIDGE
The KWWSPCA’s Charity Shop in Newbridge, Co. Kildare, Noah’s Ark, is sometimes looking for volunteers to work in its shop. At the moment it needs some ‘floating’ volunteers – to fill in a morning (10.00 – 1.30) or afternoon (1.30 – 5.00) shift when one of the regular volunteers is not available. If you would be interested in joining the team as a floater, please contact Ann on 086 3413017 or email kwwspca@gmail.com. No previous experience is needed, just a friendly disposition and an interest in the work of the KWWSPCA.

VOLUNTEER TO HELP RAISE VITAL FUNDS FOR THE KWWSPCA

A few hours of your time can make a real difference from organising community events, helping at our events, flag days and bucket collections – we need your help!
